GREATER NOIDA: On Tuesday, The MoEFc or the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change offered its consent to the reference terms of environmental clearance for the development of an international airport at the place called Jewar.
The Jewar Airport Projects would be located along the Yamuna Expressway which is 165-km long. MoEFC’s approval comes as a major breakthrough for the project as it was the last obstacle in its way.Verbal approval for the reference terms of environmental clearance came from the ministry on 29th May. “Today we have got the reference terms approval in writing for taking this ambitious development assignment ahead. The ultimate hurdle for us was the approval of the reference terms for environmental clearance from the MoEFc and this has now been successfully cleared. Suggestions and objections from the general public shall be welcomed by the MoEFC for a time span of 45 days after which the project would be granted complete clearance,” stated Arun.
Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority or YEIDA is the nodal agency that has been appointed by the government of Uttar Pradesh for this assignment. The chief executive officer of YEIDA is Mr. Vir Singh.The PwC or PricewaterhouseCoopers is the consulting agency that came up with the techno-economic feasibility report for the project. PwC and the YEIDA together are vested with the responsibility of providing the details of this project along with complete information regarding the nearby forest.
Mr. Shailendra Bhatia, the officer for special duty from YEIDA said. “We will be preparing the details on the number of water bodies located around this development site; the number of forest reserves, ponds, lakes and various other areas that are environmentally sensitive and are present around the site. We shall also inform the MoEFC about the way we would be arranging electricity, water and various other facilities without causing any damage to the ecology of the entire region.”
