According to the report, 1,441 hectares of land to be acquired from the nearby villages and airport will be developed on it. The Airport will be made operational by 2022 according to the report. The government will completely follow the public private partnership model and development will be done under 4 phases with the total budget of 15,754 crore.
With the annual capacity of 70 million passengers the airport will have two runways. The cargo unit will be developed to handle 3 million metric tons per year.
A senior official government official said, “The meeting in Delhi was attended by the principal secretary SP Goyal with the other senior members. With the continuing efforts of state and central government the work on the project started in April 2017. On July 6, 2017 the steering committee cleared the project, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority has been appointed as the main agency for this project”.
Jewar Airport will be an alternative for the IGI Airport because of the overloaded traffic and in 2024, it is estimated that IGI Airport will be completely occupied with the existing flights and there will be an urgent need to check on the air traffic.
