Acting on his poll promise, newly appointed BJP MLA from Jewar constituency, Thakur Dhirendra Singh has written to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath regarding the Jewar International Airport project requesting him to push
the proposal to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India. Singh has written that with the project in place, scores of people will get employment and the area will observe an economic boost. Speaking to TOI from Lucknow, the MLA said he had also raised the issue during the first Assembly session on Thursday.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is keen to develop world-class infrastructure in the country, which will help generate jobs. With the Jewar airport in place, we will be able to fulfil this,” Singh said. “I have apprised the CM that the proposed airport would provide multi-modal connectivity to the entire region, which would go a long way in facilitating economic activities, in establishing the region as an industrial hub and generating employment,” he said. “I have written to him explaining that the proximity of the proposed Jewar airport to the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor and the Delhi-Mumbai freight corridor will also act as a growth engine for Uttar Pradesh as a whole,” he said.
Singh further said that the CM was also apprised of the fact that the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has already reserved 5,000 acres for the proposed project across 35 villages after it was first proposed in 2001. “I have also explained the physical advantages of having an international airport in the region. I have requested the CM to push the project at the earliest,” he added.
